8 – Week Mindfulness for Life Course

The 8-week course will start on April 24th and will run until June 26th with a break for half term (no class on May 29th). A recent study at Harvard University found that on average, people spend at least 47 % of the time thinking about the past or worrying about the future – what a waste to spend all that time missing out on the simple pleasures of everyday life! In the 8- week Mindful Living course we will introduce you to simple techniques which allow you to live more in the present, become more self- aware, feel less stressed and, in time, more content and at peace. The Mindfulness for Life course is an in- depth introduction to mindfulness which draws on the best practices from the Western Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction techniques (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat Zin, as well as integrating elements of the Plum Village approach to mindfulness developed by Thich Nhat Hanh. Whilst meditation is an important element of the course, we will also cover other practices that you can incorporate into your daily life such as mindful movement, mindful eating and mindful listening.  We explore techniques which help participants to develop a stronger and wiser emotional core so that we can feel more grounded and able to cope with the pace of life in the 21st Century.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner, this course is open to all. It will require you to be available for a 2- hour session once a week for 8 weeks, and there is also a full day of mindfulness towards the end of the course.  I provide a booklet of course materials and no equipment are necessary, although you are welcome to bring your own cushion and mat if you prefer to sit on the floor, rather than on the chairs that are provided.
